Update for June

June’s Journal
Entry #3

Happy August, dear sponsors…I hope you are enjoying your summer. The season is in full swing at the sanctuary here in Ringoes — and what a summer it is! Adoptions are going well, as kittens seem to be flying out to their furever homes. Well, all except one…and that would be Mayo, a new addition to the Community Room. This little tabby was 8 weeks old when she appeared in my space. So far, I have managed to let her make friends with the others in the room, while ignoring her myself.

But, I have a new BFF, and it is not a kitten. My best buddy is Melanie. She is an older calico, about 12 or 13, and we have become very close friends, as you can see in our photo. Melanie first came to Tabby’s Place in 2010, through the Guardian Angel Program. Once I moved into the Community Room, I did not waste any time getting to know her.

Melanie is like my grandma, and we can often be seen snuggling and curling up together. I love Melanie and share my space with her all the time. I took it upon myself, as part of the Community Room Security Force, to initiate contact, and I am so glad that I did. Mel and I love each other. When I am not scurrying around the room or climbing up a cat tree, Mel and I are usually nestling together. I hope she is here for a long time, as it feels good to have a friend who is all mine.

Speaking of friendship, I am getting better at my social skills with people, too. Last week, my scribe came to visit, and we expanded my spa treatments. Instead of just the usual back rub, we have now added ears, neck, cheeks and face, even a nose rub or two. But, I really do like the upper body rubs and back rubs. So, when you come to visit me, please come over to my cat tree and give me some of those special massages I like so very much.

While my scribe was visiting, Melanie came over and climbed into the cat tree. She likes it as much as I do!

Health-wise, I am doing well this month. I am enjoying all the good meals and treats at Tabby’s Place, and I continue to explore my surroundings with gusto. It would really be nice if I could have a home of my own, and maybe someone experienced with Special Needs kitties could adopt both Melanie and me together so we could stay BFF’s…

In the meantime, thank you for making it possible for me to have such a wonderful life at Tabby’s Place. Enjoy the rest of your summer!

Love,

June
