Update for June

June’s Journal #23

Happy Spring, dear sponsors!

It’s me, June, here at the Sanctuary, enjoying this up and down weather. I still think Mother Nature has the flu or some sort of brain episode, since we are 75 degrees one day and 40 degrees the next.  But, I am having a peaceful month, despite the up and down temps.  I hear the staff talking about my “goofy, adorable cauliflower ear.”  It is okay that they talk about me, as I know I am so loved and well taken care of here at Tabby’s Place.

I have been scootching across the Community Room floor looking for sunny spots.  But, there is also this colossal bed, which I think is a dog bed, in my room which I share with many of the other kitties.  I love this bed and always manage to find a corner where I can take one of my many snoozes.  All the kitties have been getting along very well (and they should, with me in charge).  It is a common sight to see me curled up and asleep with many of them each day.

Scribe came to visit and found me in that wonderful big bed, all cuddled with a white blankie and a blue afghan.  I was awake, and she commented about how beautiful my huge yellow eyes really are.  She said my ear was looking very good, a bit lop-sided, but much better than before, when I had those stitches.  And now that my surgery is done, my coat is so soft and silky once again.  She and I played with a wand that had these soft cotton ball-like things hanging from the end.  It was great fun, and I was able to catch them on several tries.

I was happy to have not only my regular back rub but also a chin rub.  Hmmm, those are new, but I like them.  After a bit, Scribe covered me with the afghan to keep me nice and warm.  Pixie came by again, so I decided to explore the Community Room to be sure all was secure.  While I was on Kitty Patrol, Scribe and Pixie played with the wand.  Pixie was much more aggressive than I was, and she really enjoyed the exercise.

After my rounds, I was hungry and thirsty, so I made a bee-line for the water fountain and some kibble.  Both were very good.  But after a few turns around the room, I was tired and headed for the soft red bed in the back corner.  I love my naps, you know, and it was time for a pre-supper nap.

So, dear sponsors, I am healthy and enjoying the spring here at Tabby’s Place.  Come and visit me and visit the other kitties as well.  Maybe one day I will be lucky enough to be adopted.  We Special Needs kitties make wonderful pets.  Meantime, have a happy month, and no matter which holiday you celebrate, or if you celebrate at all, just have a wonderful April.  I love you all!

Hugs and kitty kisses, June
