June’s Journal #15
Happy August to all, and thank goodness the heat waves are almost over. We are good here at the sanctuary, as the air conditioning is working well and all the kitties have soft and warm and cool places to be. So, let me tell you a little story…
My scribe came to visit me on August 3rd, and she could not find me. Hah! I was tucked in safely under my blankie, instead of in a bed. But I was found. Volunteer Paul, who was cleaning my Community Room, pulled my blankie back, and there I was, rudely awakened from my beauty sleep. I will admit I was startled and a bit angry, but then I saw Scribe and thought, how nice of her to visit me again so soon. (I really wish she would tell me when she was coming, so I could be prepared and not so abruptly shaken from my sleep.)
Scribe started petting me, but I wasn’t having it since I was not fully awake yet. Pixie was in her window seat and started scratching and meowing…she wanted to come out and visit with Scribe. But Scribe did not bring her down, since she wanted a visit with me.
I thought I was going to be a bit prissy, but then Scribe found that spot on my head and ears and gave me a wonderful soft massage. She even rubbed my paws and pads (which are a bit dry). Then she gave me a great back massage, so soft and gentle. I loved it so, and leaned right into it as it really felt good. At first she used only one hand as she was taking down her notes for my journal post. But soon she used both hands and rubbed my neck… It was wonderful.
Then I took a nice bath and washed my sides to make sure all my spots were clean. Scribe said something about washing, too, but she takes showers. I don’t know what those are, but I prefer washing my own self and leaving the showers for the humans. After I did my sides, I washed my tummy with gusto.
Scribe checked the list of those kitties who are stroller-authorized, and my name is not on it. The Tabby’s Place staff think I might get a bit “freaked out” if I went for a ride in the kitty stroller. Maybe it can be my turn in the future, but not for now.
Healthwise, I am really good — great, in fact. I keep on doing my kittycises (kitty exercises) during the staff meetings to keep in shape. After all, a girl has to stay happy and healthy, and I am both. No infections, no meds, just lots of good food, good care and good lovin’ from all my human friends.
So, stay cool dear sponsors, and please be happy and healthy for me. Come see me and visit if you can…I love my back rubs…
Purrs and kitty kisses,
June
