June’s Journal #20
Wow, is it cold out…and Happy New Year to everyone…I can’t believe it is 2019 already. Where does the time go?
I have lots of time to relax here at the sanctuary where we are all warm and cozy. I have many beds from which to choose as well as several cat trees in which to relax. So I can spend my days patrolling the Community Room as well as trying out all the beds and trees to be sure they are fine for all the rest of the kitties with me.
As far as the rest of the kitties are concerned, we have a new arrival. I thought we were done when Sophia arrived and she was getting a lot of attention. But all of my admirers did not forget about me as there is so much love to go around here for all of us. However, a “newbie” named Carley Rose has invaded us and is in my space. Carley Rose is a feisty girl who seems not to like many of the other kitties in the Community Room, but she has left me alone so far. I, being a very street-wise young lady, know when to avoid trouble. So I have been steering clear of Miss Carley Rose.
I am spending my awake time keeping an extra eye or two on the volunteers to make sure they give me lots of loves and hugs and back rubs. I also have to continue my monitoring of the staff to be sure the daily a.m. meetings go well and that I am not forgotten when it comes to keeping them all on track.
So, wonderful sponsors, I am just fine this month. I have no medical issues, even though I am paralyzed. Sometimes, paralyzed kitties get UTI’s ( urinary tract infections) or have other tummy and kidney issues to deal with as all of our parts are not working. My upper parts are just fine, and the staff here does a wonderful job making sure my bottom parts are in good working order. I still give them a run for their money when I see them coming to express my bladder and bowels and do my monthly mani and pedi.
Some of the kitties get something called a dental…hmmm, I wonder if I will need one of those any time soon …I don’t know what it is, but I hear tell I have to have some sort of anesthetic to put me to sleep for a bit while my teeth are cleaned or pulled if I need any extractions. Right now, I can leave that procedure for the other kitties as my mouth is just fine. But when I monitor the staff meetings, I hear them talking about many of the other kitties here and all the health issues involved. So I am happy to be here and healthy and loving life.
The days are on the upswing and getting longer by minutes. And I am so hoping that the extreme cold passes as well. While I am safe inside, there are so many kitties outside who need Tabby’s Place and the relief Tabby’s pLACE provides for the ferals. So come and visit me here at the Sanctuary and play with me and give me a nice, long, calming back and head rub. I love my visitors.
And thank you, dear sponsors, for helping me spend my years here at Tabby’s Place.
Love to all,
June
