Hips’ Happenings #10
Happy October to all my Tabby’s Place Fans and Kitty Lovers!
Fasten your seat belts, because it has been a very busy month so far…
First, it is fall, and all of the beautiful colors are coming onto the trees. I can look out the doors of the sanctuary and see how pretty the view is. But, I am happy to be inside, where all the action is taking place.
October has been quite hectic. We had the Grand Opening of Quinn’s Corner, Tabby’s Place’s new expansion for cats with feline leukemia virus (FeLV). I call them “feleuks.” Because FeLV disease is contagious, the feleuks have to be separated from the rest of us. But, they can all live together at Quinn’s Corner in their cubbies and suites, and play with each other, and have a wonderful life here at Tabby’s Place.

And the Grand Opening was, indeed, GRAND! We had lots of folks from all over, coming to see the new addition and to meet all of the kitties…including, of course, me!
I started getting ready the day before, maintaining my kingly position in the cat tree next to the reception desk. But I started to get a bit antsy, because I wanted to greet people at the door.
So, I kind of meandered over to the double doors and started waiting to see if folks were already in the parking lot. Maybe they would be doing an overnight at “Camp Tabby’s Place,” to be sure they would get in. But my friend, Mary Anne, reminded me that the big day was October 7, and this was the 6th.
Not to be outdone, I jumped onto volunteer Isabel’s back to get a better view. After a while, I just went back to the cat tree and decided to wait until the big day.

I was so anxious to see all the folks. We had lots of food and games, and even a coloring station for the youngsters. There were pencil drawings of Olive, Anka, Steven, and moi for the kids to color. We had tours, so guests could see all of Tabby’s Place. We had all kinds of cat toys, and even some “people clothes” with Tabby’s Place logos for sale. It was a wonderful day.
The Friday before, when Mary Anne was visiting me, I wanted to prepare my girlfriend, Prescott, to be on duty with me for the Grand Opening. But she was sleeping away the day. I just jumped back onto my cat tree, took a bath, and went back to sleep, to be sure I was well-rested for all the festivities.

Heath-wise, I am still having some issues. They are the same ones from last month. It’s all about the food and my tummy and intestines. But never fear, as the staff is always on it with me.
I was recently observed going from litter box to litter box and kind of having some loose poops. Then, I urinated in very strange places. I even tossed up some of my food. The medical staff did a urinalysis and some other tests, but all were negative. I do have issues when I get into forbidden food.

I was so happy to meet so many of you at the Grand Opening. Please don’t let that be your only visit. Come back as often as you can before the cold and snow set in for the winter.
The doors of Tabby’s Place are always open to visitors and adopters (well, from 12-5 every day).
Until next month, be safe and well and warm.
Love to all,
Hips
