Greetings, FeLVie fans!
I hope your Valentine’s Day was truly lovely! Let’s jump right into the news.
Two of the boys in our double-positive suite lost some weight over the past four weeks. Dewie and Luke did not need to lose this weight, but our vet team has come up with an ingenious solution which we hope will be effective. You’ll remember that the cats in our double-positive suite have been limited to wet food because of Abacus, who has had too many urinary tract blockages for us even to think about giving him dry food.
However, Dewie, Luke, and Trifecta don’t need to be restricted in their diets this way. Trifecta and Dewie are both diabetic in addition to being double-positive, but there is diabetic-safe kibble, and the two of them, along with Luke, are now being offered small amounts of that kibble. Of course, anything remaining is cleared away before Abacus (shown in our header photo today) can get to it, although truthfully there’s usually nothing remaining. The three boys are eating their kibble with great enthusiasm. We’ll weigh them again in a few weeks to see how they’re progressing.

Puff is concerning us again. Her weight has continued to trend downward, and she certainly does not need that. So, over the past month, she had an abdominal ultrasound that showed nothing. We still do not have any answers, but we continue to monitor her carefully.
Little Batty has become much more receptive to human attention; I recently saw a young volunteer reach into a cubbyhole and give her a good “skritch” for several minutes around her head and neck. Hoopla Green continues to prefer the solarium, but even she’s becoming more accustomed to human company; I’ve seen her inside her suite, curled up in a cubbyhole, when it’s been very cold.
And Mr. Man continues to be delightful. A few Sundays ago now, I saw a volunteer sit on the floor of his suite, and Mr. Man came right over and settled in the volunteer’s lap. I had occasion to walk past that suite periodically for over 45 minutes, and Mr. Man had not moved from that lap when I left for the day.
Pisa had her ear sutures removed. She lost some weight over the past month, so she’s now getting lunch daily. I think that Sweetie is missing Oram. We’re delighted that Oram was adopted, naturally, but Sweetie seemed to look to Oram for cues on how to behave, especially around people.

Regina had a wardrobe overhaul during the past four weeks; she got a new collection of scoot skirts that (usually) stay zipped and stay on. There was one day where she did manage to wiggle out of her garb, and she was seen zooming around her suite at top speed. Fortunately, we managed to stop her before she scraped up her hind legs again, and she was bundled back into a skirt. Most recently, she’s developed a bit of diaper rash, but it’s not too bad and we’re treating it before it becomes a real problem.
Sweet Pea is a dear and will often actively seek human attention. She has developed a minor obsession with the nylon tubes in her suite and the Quinn’s Corner lobby and can often be seen shooting into (or out from) one of them. She loves toys, especially when they’re tossed into one of those tubes.

Whew! That’s enough news for one update. Thank you so much for your generosity and your love for these special felines.
