Greetings, FeLVie Fans!
It’s time for the last monthly update of 2024. As usual, there’s a lot of news, so let’s dive right in.
Medical news first! Um, there is none. No, really; there’s no medical news this month. Incredible, right? Our whole crew has been in good spirits and unchanged health over the past month. If we wanted something to be grateful for at the end of the year, this qualifies handily.
Were you there? Did you make it to THE social event of the season (well, for our FeLVies, anyway), our Thanksgiving With the Cats event on November 23rd? If you couldn’t attend, it’s not a drama, as I have a full report for you.
Tabby’s Place was packed with visitors the day of the event, and the stars of the show were our fabulous FeLVies. In the words of one staffer, Quinn’s Corner “looked like Grand Central Station” for most of the day. Everyone wanted to say hello to these wonderful felines.

Now, you’ll remember that Trifecta and Abacus are on a special diet. The boys can’t have turkey, but our staff prepared special cups of food for them so they could join in the festivities. Many of Trifecta’s huge fan club turned out to see and feed him. Our sweet boy might have had almost as much attention as he could handle in an afternoon.
Abacus, determined not to be left out (not left out of any food, at least), amused everyone by trying to scarf down Trifecta’s food as well as his own. At one point, he had food on his face from repeatedly sticking his nose into a food cup. Everyone else in our crew enjoyed some turkey during the event.

During the afternoon, a visitor went into Puff‘s suite to pet her. He knelt down to give Puff attention, but before he could do anything, Mr. Man climbed into his lap. Our visitor was delighted, and Mr. Man was on his lap for quite some time before Puff got her attention. It was lovely to see people interacting with and getting to know our FeLVies.
In other news, Batty continues to be shy with us, but she is improving all the time. I hand-feed her kibble and can now gently per her head whenever I do so. Hoopla Green (featured in our banner for this update) remains in her solarium whenever we’ll allow it (it’s been very cold here lately) and enjoys snoozing on the heated mat there.

Regina has been puzzling us a bit. She was seen leaking urine but with no sign of a urinary tract infection. This young lady has proven wonderfully adept at getting out of her scoot skirts, and she loves to zoom around her suite at high speed. The problem with this is that she develops skin sores on her hind legs (that’s the reason for the skirts in the first place).
And wait until you hear about Sweetie! The cat who did nothing but hide in cubby holes and hiss when anyone got too near will now venture out into the Quinn’s Corner lobby when it’s quiet. Even better, he enjoys snuggling with Oram, and the two of them were seen curled up together in an elevated cat bed, engaged in mutual grooming.
Somehow, 2024 is nearly over. I wish I could convey to you how much it means to me, and to everyone at Tabby’s Place, that you’ve chosen to help us care for these cats who for so long were considered not worth saving. Your generosity shines through the negativity and misunderstanding surrounding feline leukemia, and I cannot thank you enough.
May you have a peaceful holiday season and a happy, healthy 2025.

Stephanie
