Happy August, friends of Faye!

Real talk: sometimes in life there are renegades, instigators, agitators, pot-stirrers, flies in the ointment, square pegs in round holes, those who zig when the world zags. In short, friends, there are…Rebels.

Suite B has always been home to a relatively mellow crew. Sure, they’ve had their share of side-eye and tail-lashing, but things usually find their way back to chill soon enough. This time, though, a line has been drawn in the kitty litter…er, sand. Suite C is a house divided — specifically, it’s divided into two groups: those who stay inside the suite, and those who keep calm out in the solarium. Who or what is to blame, you ask? Well, I’m not one to point fingers, but in this case…IT’S REBEL. It’s TOTALLY Rebel.

With the addition of this new guy, things in the suite are going through some transitions. To be fair, Rebel has a huge heart, but it comes hand-in-hand with an equally massive attitude (and body) and a willingness to whup up his neighbors at every possible turn. For now, Rebel reigns inside Suite C, and, as such, many of the Suite C regulars have taken the path of least resistance. That path, incidentally, is the ramp that leads them out into the suite’s adjacent solarium.

There’s strength in numbers, though, and from what I’ve heard — okay, eavesdropped in on — from the solarium, there’s a plot to take Suite C back. Calm kitties, like gentle Carrot and Princess Faye, have, as pacifists do, opened a dialogue about Rebel’s rousing. I overheard only one comment before the cats noticed me and hushed up. It was Faye, exasperatingly arguing, “I mean, he knows I’m a princess, right? It is sort of MY suite.”

The fur will fly, a coup will follow, and the meek shall inherit the suite.

In the meantime, though, conflict aside, Faye has had a happy, healthy month, soaking up the sunshine from her solarium, enjoying the company of her friends, and leading the resistance.
