Update for Faye

Happy June, Friends of Faye!

“Hot town, summer in the city
Dressing so fine, and looking so pretty
Cool cat, looking for a kitty
Gonna look in every corner of the city…”

Perturbed Faye

…or up on the ramps in Tabby’s Place.

Apparently, the first blush of those hot summer nights has stirred up some courtship—albeit odd courtship—here at Tabby’s Place,  according to an eye-witness volunteer who, a few weeks ago, overheard some “strange cat sounds” emerging from Faye’s suite.

After rushing into the room, the volunteer spied Wilbur cornering Faye up in the back corner of the ramp, next to the tube that connects the suite to its adjacent solarium. Faye had no way out, as he was blocking her path and being quite a bully.

The volunteer shooed Wilbur away and convinced the very perturbed Faye (see photo) to come away from the corner. We take bullying very seriously, so the incident was immediately reported to a staff member, who surprisingly shared that this, um, behavior, has been observed before, but that it is usually Faye who is the instigator.

Real talk, friends: I’ve never been one who is, for lack of a better word, “good” at relationships. I’ve never been on an online dating app. I’d rather sit quietly in a corner and people watch than approach someone and slip them my number. In fact, I’m three weeks out from an absolutely soul-crushing breakup (with someone I only met because we took the same elevator one time a few years ago…), so I’m not going to say that I can offer an insight into the Wilbur/Faye relationship dynamic. But I can tell you that, for whatever reason, they are frequently and thus far inexplicably, all up in each others’ faces ALL the time.

One reason for this sudden, wacky flirt-game might be Faye’s most recent makeover. You may recall that May brought not only flowers but Faye’s semiannual shave-down, leaving her so adorable that it’s hard not to laugh out loud with delight at her new look. She’s cute. She’s sassy. She’s a picture-perfect princess. This could be intimidating to Wilbur, who *may* have intended to strike up a conversation about the opening of the Walt Whitman exhibit at The Morgan Library, but ended up just screaming in Faye’s face instead.

In any event, we’ve got our eyes on them. And we will keep you posted about any “developments.”

Despite the new #Fayebur drama, our vet team gave Faye her annual physical exam and bloodwork while she was sedated for her shave-down. Everything looks perfect, so our favorite girl is doing well!

Faye sends you kisses and thanks you for your loving support! We hope you, too, are having a happy start to the summer, Junebugs. We’ll talk again soon…
