Update for Corey

The staff at Tabby’s Place is always keeping a close eye on Corey, due to his multiple medical issues.
A few days ago, they noticed that he just didn’t seem “right”.
His breathing seemed somewhat labored and, rather than take any chances, they rushed him to a nearby vet (since noe of our vets was in that day).

An x-ray showed that Corey was in congestive heart failure, meaning that his heart wasn’t pumping enough blood to the body’s other organs.
The vet started Corey on a diuretic (to reduce the fluid buildup) and suggested we schedule an ultrasound for him ASAP.

Corey’s ultrasound showed that he was in the early stages of heart failure.
A followup blood pressure reading showed that he also had hypertension (high blood pressure).
Based on these results, we started him on a common heart medication.

There is no cure for heart failure, but it can often be managed quite well with a appropriate medications and care.
Corey has been doing very well since the incident.
His appetite remains great and he is as sweet and happy as ever.
Please keep a good thought for Corey, as he moves forward with this new complication.
