Update for Corey

Upon first meeting little Corey a month ago, my first impression was that I would be working with a very sick little animal, indeed. But, it is with the greatest pleasure that I say he is a formidable fighter, as well.

This month has been a trying one for Corey, yet his sweet disposition and endearing gentleness nevertheless shine through — I can happily say that I have forever joined the ranks of Corey’s fans!

The week of March 12th, Corey was rushed to a local vet’s office when the staff noticed that he was breathing at an alarmingly high rate.
We told the vet that we suspected the mass in his chest as the culprit.
So, the vet took chest x-rays.
After reading the x-rays, she didn’t see a mass in his chest, but instead saw what looked like heart disease.
Heart disease can be mistaken easily for a mass on x-rays, and she suspected that the mass was a misdiagnose.

We were truly concerned for the little guy, but as usual, Corey came through with some happy news: an ultrasound showed that the heart disease is so mild that he does not need drugs: ) Furthermore, he has been taken off of the steroid (which can actually worsen heart disease) and all seems well.

The week following the scare, Corey attained a roommate — Tabby. Although originally it seemed a good idea to give Corey some company, Tabby is a one-cat-household kind of girl. After some unpleasantness towards Corey, we thought it best to separate the two by way of a room divider, and give Tabby her own space, thereby keeping little Corey stress-free.

He has since grown accustomed to his space, and remains ever-so-sweet towards visitors. I look forward to telling you more about our remarkable Corey.

Kindest regards until next time.
