I am delighted to have the opportunity to bring you the monthly updates for dear Cisco. Like many others, I am looking to gain his trust. In the past, I have had some success with softening stoic fronts by attempting to sing softly. This worked like a charm with Buddy, but Cisco had quite a different reaction. He just looked at me as if to say, “what are you doing?” He must have better hearing than most kitties who seem to be content with my off-key melodies. Cisco has inspired me to try a little harder next time.

Cisco tolerated me enough to eat a few of the treats that I placed near him. Then, he decided that it was best to escape to the solarium.

Others have noted that Cisco has been especially receptive to attention and affection out in the solarium, his defenses melted (at least a little) by the sun. He has also been seen snuggling with Buddy, who oozes sweetness, and this is what happened on this particular day. Perhaps Buddy will show Cisco the way. As far as people cuddling, not so much. He clearly needs time to warm up to me, and hopefully one day I will earn his trust. Until then, I will tread lightly and continue to let him know that he is loved.

In other suite news, Bucky and Stormie, two painfully frightened cats who never warmed to our affections, were adopted into the best possible setting: a safe barn home, where devoted owners will care for their needs (and even provide their prescription diet). This means Cisco will soon be welcoming a new neighbor, a sweet-natured, part-Siamese FIV+ girl from Louisiana.
