Update for Cisco

Happy Valentine’s Month Cisco lovers,

There is no better time to thank you for loving our sweet Cisco as much as you do! He is thriving in his shy Cisco way and basking in the adoration of his followers and visitors.

Once again, there is much going on in Cisco’s world. It’s been a rough month in Suite FIV. Newcomer Knickers, a sweetie pie with humans, has proven to be a menace to feline society. When he began starting fights and having issues with redirected aggression towards people, we started Knickers on behavioral medication. But, since the outbreak of a very large fight involving Lester and Rufus (no shrinking violets themselves), we’ve reluctantly decided to keep Knickers crated at all times, until the medication takes effect. We’re doing our best to keep Suite FIV calm for everyone involved.

During a recent visit, there was a swarming of kitties when the aroma of treats filled the FIV suite. Cisco had a lot of competition for the treats I brought him. Rufus was pretty intent on getting some and kept walking back and forth between Cisco and I. He was not going to be ignored!

Cisco loves to hunker down in his favorite cubby. He gets to see most of what’s going on in the suite, and he has a back door to escape should the need arise! Luckily, he doesn’t see me as a threat and is content to hang out with me. He was happy to take some treats from me, while I lightly touched his front and back paws (accidentally of course!) when pulling my hand away.

In medical news, Cisco developed a small lesion over his left eye this month. Given his history with ringworm, we viewed this spot under a black light just to confirm it isn’t the dreaded fungus (it’s not). We gave Cisco one dose of antibiotic treatment. Finally, the results of a blood glucose (BG) curve led us to tweak Cisco’s insulin dosage.

It seems that change is inevitable as we all go through life. What gets us through it are the constants in our lives, the ‘rocks’ that we can count on. You, dear Cisco adorers, are the constants in his life. You are there for him, supporting him, loving him, day in and day out. Thank you for your unrelenting gift to him!

Have a beautiful month!
