Update for Cisco

Greetings Cisco Supporters!

Here in New Jersey, some delightful weather has finally found it’s way to us. The FIV Suite guys are enjoying it immensely. I found Cisco and his buddies, Wolfie, Shea, Chachi and Wilbur all hanging out in the solarium enjoying the warmth of the day.

Wilbur, Shea, and Wolfie were all interested in playing but Wolfie was the only one inspired enough to actually get up! He loves his wand toys and likes them best when they come to him rather than having to chase them.

Our dear old boy Cisco is making small but super steps in learning to trust us. This month, he took treats from a fellow volunteer’s fingers (and left the fingers unscathed). On a recent visit, I was not as lucky. Cisco had no interest in treats at all. Perhaps I’ll be able to entice him on my next visit.

Cisco has also enjoyed generally good health. Our vet team conducted a fructosamine test, which measures a cat’s blood glucose (BG) levels over an extended period of time. Although Cisco’s BGs have remained a bit elevated, he’s maintained a good stable weight (another key indicator of diabetes control), so we’re not going to increase his insulin dose at this point. He’s given us some scares with low BGs, so it’s better to err on the side of caution.

Tabby’s Place hosted a Chip or Treat event on October 13, a free microchipping clinic and celebration of our 15th anniversary. Since October 2003, Tabby’s Place has been a cage-free, no-kill haven for cats from hopeless situations. Now that is something to celebrate!

Sponsors like you make all this possible. We are forever grateful for your love and continuous support for dear Cisco. You make all this possible, and he is a very lucky boy to have you in his little corner of the world.
