Update for Cheba

Happy New Year!

Cheba is a wonderfully sweet, friendly lap cat. She also happens to be playful and is “cute as a button,” with her teardrop gray nose and dark amber eyes.

Although Cheba fits in well with the other cats in Suite A, she is one of the most predictable: unless she is sound asleep, you can find her stationed at the door, ready to escape the moment you open it. Mischievous Miss Cheba’s “thrill of the day,” says staff member Lorraine, is to run down the suite hallway and back again, and then jet back into the suite for her beloved canned food breakfast. Since Cheba was losing some weight, she currently receives a daily special meal to make sure she’s eating enough. She sure loves her wet food!

Just this morning as another Suite A resident was eating HIS special meal, Cheba decided she would like to do a taste-test comparison. She wasn’t shy about sticking her paw in his food and trying to pull the dish toward her. I had to leave the suite, so I’m not sure who won.

Tippy, formerly of Suite A, is another lover of wet food. Prior to Cheba’s arrival in Suite A, Tippy was, inarguably, the top/dominant cat in the suite. When Tippy was barred from the solarium once winter set in, Cheba hounded her relentlessly in the suite. It’s funny how a cat can be so pleasant and fun with people, but so feisty and unyielding with other cats. We finally moved Tippy into a different suite. Now both cats are much happier – Tippy at being left alone, and Cheba at being the new top cat of Suite A.

Thank you for helping us take care of Cheba. I look forward to keeping you informed about her.
