Update for Charlie

Dear friends,

How are you doing today? I am doing…oh hang on…treats just arrived…sorry about that, but I cannot resist my treats. Yum! Anyway, I am doing well — even better now that I’ve had my treats.

I am lying on my huge human bed (Charlie bed) as I write this to you, and the great thing is they bring my treats right to me! I don’t even have to get up. This is how I always wanted to live.

The screen door has been open a lot lately. We have had some nice weather, and I’ve been making the most of it. I walk out to my special solarium, lounge on the sofa out there, smell the fresh air and feel the warm sun on my fur. After a while, I wander back to my Charlie bed for a nap. I’m a very busy boy.

Since my stay at the hospital, when I got my hyperthyroidism fixed, I’ve gained over a pound! Momma says I’m getting back to my old, big self. There is always lots of good food around here too, so I think that helps.

My brother, little Jude, is crazy! I have no idea where he gets all that energy! He zips around the bedroom, jumps, plays, and is always busy. He needs to learn how to be a cat and relax! I lie on the bed watching his antics, and I get exhausted just watching him.

Momma says my blood glucose (BG) levels are all over the place lately. The vet team raised my insulin to 6 units twice a day, and Momma still has to do those ear pricks on me twice a day. I don’t really like those, but Momma says they are very important, so she knows what my BG levels are. I am a very good boy for my ear pricks, and when it’s done I always get a big hug from Momma.

I like to wander through the rest of the house sometimes, but only for short periods of time. I look around, make sure I’m not missing anything fun, and say hello to the cats out there. When I’m done exploring, I go and sit outside the bedroom door, and stare at it until Momma gets the hint and lets me back into my room.

It’s time for my nap, so I have to say goodnight. Thank you for being my friend, and helping me stay healthy and happy. Life is good.

Your pal,
Charlie
