Update for Charlie

Shocktober greetings to all fans and supporters of Charlie,

Hey, let’s do a paw-bump in hopes of a joyous October, okay? Please know that I am ever more grateful for your sponsorship as I enjoy the best of care here at Tabby’s Place. My always attentive staff and volunteer fan club noticed this month that I’d been drinking and urinating more than usual, which is a telltale sign of out-of-control diabetes. Sure enough, they tested my urine and they found glucose. A follow-up high blood glucose (BG) curve confirmed that my sugars have indeed been running high. So I’m now receiving an increased morning and evening insulin dose, which should bring my levels back under control. My tummy has also been a little off this month and I vomited overnight on two separate occasions, so my vet team will start me on an anti-nausea medication if this trend continues. Perhaps it was just me eating too fast… I tend to get very excited at dinner time and gulp my wet food down in quite a hurry!

I hope you like the picture I’m including with this month’s update. My scribe took it from high above me, and I think I look quite svelte and handsome from this angle! I’m still spending all my time outside in cozy beds on the solarium floor, politely ignoring the newly constructed towers of new elevated cat beds that my roomies are thoroughly enjoying. I’m not much for heights and climbing… it would take me much too far away from the ground, where visitors sit and make available their laps for me to climb into with reckless abandon!

Get out there and take part in the fun frightful activities that October brings — and if your health allows, do enjoy an extra sweet treat in my honor.

I love you with all my grey furry heart.

Peace, love, and purrs…
Charlie
