Dear Carrot friends,

It has been quite a crazy month at Tabby’s Place. We renovated the Adoption Rooms into offices; they still have cats in them, but now humans too. In addition, we redesigned the Community Room completely. It has new desks, great window perches, and cool cat trees. Suite C became the socialization room for our shy kitties, and the Special Needs Suite is now the kitten room. We currently only have one kitten, but they’re coming! With all these moves, the cats were a little stressed for a day or two, until they settled in to their new areas.

Carrot and his friends were very happy to be in Suite B this month, because they didn’t have to move anywhere. Suite B was undisturbed, and they were all quite happy with that.

The only way in which Suite B was touched by all the moves was the addition of one cat: Hank. Tough boy Hank was previously in Suite C, but when that became a room for shy cats, Hank could not stay in there.

Hank is known for bullying cats, so we introduced him to Suite B very slowly. We already have some very strong personalities in Suite B, so we want it to go smoothly when we introduce someone new, especially a cat like Hank. Since joining Suite B, Hank has been doing better than expected, even acting a little nervous and trying to avoid the other cats.

But then, one day last week, Hank wandered out to the solarium and encountered our Carrot. Denise, our Senior Vet Tech, had to get between Carrot and Hank, because Carrot was chasing Hank, and poor Hank was scared of him!

Yes, our boy has become a bit of a bully. He only picks on cats who bully other cats, though. Carrot always gets along really well with his cat friends who love other cats, like Chelsea, Steve and Gherkin. With that type of cats, he’s great, but Carrot does not like bullies. I think he’s protecting his more timid friends, because one thing our Carrot is not is timid!

Carrot has enjoyed another healthy month, and is still loving hanging out in his solarium. Carrot and his crew recently welcomed a new buddy into their select group of friends: Togepi. They all hang out, play and sunbathe. It’s a good life.
