Update for Carrot

Update for Carrot

Dear Carrot friends,

Carrot has had his usual busy month. So far he has visited senior homes four times, and he has a few more visits scheduled for the remainder of the month. Visits to the new senior home begin at the end of this month, and Carrot and Rose are on the schedule for the first visit. We will let you know how it goes in our next update. I am including some adorable pictures of Carrot from this month’s Aged to Purrfection visits.

Last month we put Carrot on a stool softener to try to make things easier for him. The medication was working well, but Carrot was having a bad reaction to it. He hates being pilled and gets himself all worked up and stressed. We are not sure if it was the stress, or the medication itself, but when we gave him the medication it was causing Carrot to drool, and even vomit, each time he got the meds. So we had to stop that medication because we didn’t want poor Carrot to be so upset and nauseous. We are now doing a different stool softener; it’s a powder that we mix right into his wet food. Hopefully, that will help him to pass stool easier, and make Carrot a happier boy again.

Carrot has been very active lately; every time I go by his room he’s busy with something. He’s either running from the suite to solarium, the solarium to the suite, up on the climbing structure out in his solarium, playing down on the ground, up the ramp, down the ramp. It’s enough to make you tired just watching him. I think he’s enjoying the slightly cooler weather, and it has made him more active.

Carrot loves treats! Really loves treats! He and his roommates are only permitted a certain kind of treat suitable for cats with urinary issues (since so many of his suitemates need the urinary diet), but Carrot doesn’t mind at all. He comes running for the treat bag, pushes all the other cats out of the way, and sits waiting (not so) patiently for the treats to be served. Then he proceeds to vacuum up as many as he can, as fast as he can, so he can get more than everyone else.

I was walking past Suite C the other day, and as I looked into the room Carrot was sitting on the top of a step ladder in there. As soon as he noticed me he started yelling at me to come into the room. Of course, I did as he asked, but first I had to get a picture for you, which I am including.  Our Carrot does not like to be ignored and demands attention at all times. Of course, he gets whatever attention he wants, because he’s so adorable.

Carrot and Wilbur seem to be getting along a little better this month. We did start giving Wilbur more medication to calm him down a little, so I’m sure that helped. Carrot cannot tolerate the cats who are bullies; they bring out the worst in him. Hopefully, the room can be a little more peaceful now, and everyone can get along better.

That’s all the Carrot news for now. Thank you all for your continued support of Carrot. Carrot sends headbumps to you all and asks that you all bring him some treats.
