Update for Carrot

Dear Carrot friends,

Carrot has enjoyed a playful, relaxing and fun month, despite the addition of tough boy Rebel to Suite B. Rebel is a very big cat, with an even larger attitude. He has a short fuse, so the cats in Suite B have already learned to give him lots of space. We crate Rebel overnight, so we can be sure the cats in the room are safe from Rebel’s wrath while we’re not there. Carrot and his friends don’t seem too concerned about Rebel; they are mostly out in the solarium, while Rebel stays in the suite.

Carrot said goodbye to three of his friends this week. Togepi was adopted and left for his forever home, which was no big surprise. Togepi is a sweet boy who loves attention. A little more surprising was the double adoption of Kaycee and Gherkin, who are both very shy. One of our volunteers adopted them together. All three of these cats were part of the Carrot solarium group, so I’m sure Carrot will miss them. Luckily, Carrot still has many friends at Tabby’s Place, so he won’t be lonely.

We recently started a new enrichment program at Tabby’s Place. Our wonderful volunteers set out various toys. Some are homemade, like cereal boxes with toilet roll holders inside to hold treats. Others are store bought puzzles that encourage the cats to “work” for their treats. We also have motorized toys and wand toy playtime. Our volunteers use treats, catnip and various scents to give the cats extra stimulation. Needless to say, the cats absolutely love enrichment time, and Carrot and friends are no exception. It’s really good for them all, and they seem to look forward to it.

Carrot has no health concerns to report, which is always good news.

Thank you for your support of Carrot. He sends purrs and head-bumps to everyone!
