Carrot is back to being in his solarium 24/7 now. I haven’t seen him inside the suite for the last few weeks. Our boy has always loved the great outdoors, that’s for sure. And usually somewhere close by you will find Sparkly. Sparkly has also decided being outside is much better than being inside the suite. I think her friendship with Carrot may have something to do with that 😉
Carrot and Sparkly no longer have the place to themselves, though; now that the weather is nice, a few of the other suite dwellers have ventured outside too. Most days you can find beautiful Faye out there, usually desperately looking to see if there is any wet food anywhere. Sweet Tesseract is also one of the solarium dwellers now. Tesseract keeps to herself, and doesn’t bother anyone. Then there’s bad boy, Archer! Most of the cats are scared of Archer. He’s huge for one thing, but mostly it’s his fierce personality that keeps the cats at a distance. Not Carrot though. Our Carrot has a good relationship with Archer; they lay close by each other quite often, and Archer tolerates Carrot (or does Carrot tolerate Archer?) very well.
It reminds me of the days when Spumoni was here. Spumoni was very cat aggressive, but somehow Carrot won him over, and they ended up BFFs. While Carrot hasn’t attained that level yet with Archer, I can already see he is much better behaved around Carrot, and quite tolerant of Carrot being very close to him.
What is it about Carrot that makes these aggressive cats accept him? Even become his friend, in Spumoni’s case. We have a lot of cats here at Tabby’s Place, and I have not seen another cat be able to do this quite as well as Carrot does. I think Carrot is just so…Carrot, that eventually it wins over even the most challenging cats.
Carrot has lost a good amount of weight since being in the diet room. He is no longer pear shaped, and there was even talk about moving him back to Suite B (they have access to food all the time in Suite B). But we decided to leave him where he is for now and offer him lunch each day, so he can maintain his current weight. We don’t want him going back into a room where he can eat all the time, and put all the weight back on.
Carrot’s absolute favorite thing in the world is visitors. He gets so excited when someone comes to spend time with him. He rolls, he rubs, and he purrs. He loves pets, he loves to sit on a lap, and he loves to play. If you are ever feeling down, come and sit with Carrot. You’re guaranteed to feel better in no time.
That’s all the Carrot news for now. A huge thank you to you all for allowing us to give Carrot a safe place to call home. A cat like Carrot, while sweet and adorable, wouldn’t have many options anywhere else. Your help makes it possible for Tabby’s Place to ensure cats like Carrot will always have a home, lots of friends, and lots of love.
