Update for Carrot

Dear Carrot friends,

It’s been a fairly peaceful month in Carrot-land (otherwise known as Suite B). It seems like some of the craziness is settling down a little, as the strong personalities of the room (Misty, Leah, Simba, and Smitten) finally seem to have found a way to live fairly peacefully together. There are still some little scuffles, but nothing like last month, when it was a little scary to enter the room. So it’s a big relief they are all working it out and trying to live in harmony.

Carrot hates discord of any kind. He honestly cannot understand why everyone can’t just get along. So, last month, he completely refused to set one single paw inside the suite, and spent every minute outside with his easygoing friends. But in the past week, I have often found Carrot back inside the suite. He must sense that things have finally calmed down a little, and it’s safe to venture inside.

He may be the gentlest cat in Suite B, but Carrot’s bladder has been anything but friendly this month. Over time, Carrot’s bladder has become more difficult to express. To combat this, we’re treating him with laser therapy. We’ve seen remarkably positive results from this noninvasive treatment with many of our cats, so we’re optimistic that it will help Carrot, too.

We are doing laser therapy for all of our incontinent cats, and they actually seem to like it. It seems very relaxing for them. Rose, over in Suite A, starts rolling around and purring when she gets laser therapy.

Carrot and Spumoni remain inseparable, although they seem to have added Cypress, Chelsea and Steve to their close friends. The five of them are nearly always together, either playing or just snuggling with each other to take a nap. I absolutely love it when the cats form such good friendships. I think it really makes them happy to have close friends.

Nearly every time I show adopters around Tabby’s Place, they all fall in love with Carrot (and who wouldn’t!?). He always puts on quite a show, and he is always friendly and adorable. It breaks my heart a little when I have to tell them he is incontinent. This, understandably, changes their minds about considering him for adoption.

Then I remember how happy he is at Tabby’s Place, and how much love and attention he gets here. He doesn’t have just one family to love him deeply, he has hundreds! So, I remind myself, while the chances are very small Carrot will get adopted, he is happy, he is safe, he has all his medical needs taken care of, and he has more love than most cats will ever experience in a lifetime.

Thank you for making that possible! Carrot has you to love and care about him, and because of that, he is one lucky boy.
