Update for Carrot

Dear Carrot friends,

It’s a wonderful time to be alive! Spring has finally arrived, flowers are starting to bloom, it’s lovely outside — and no one appreciates this more than Carrot. Our little orange and white friend has been having a grand old time in his solarium, and still by his side is his new BFF, Sparkly. The bond continues between these two, and it’s a beautiful thing to see. Since the weather has been nicer they’ve had to share the solarium with one or two other cats, who have ventured out to check if spring really did arrive. They don’t seem to mind sharing their solarium though; after all, Carrot will always be the social party boy.

Lately Carrot’s new thing is to roll over as soon as he sees me, and ask for a belly rub. With most cats I would highly advise against this, unless you want your hand to look like it just went through a blender. But Carrot’s belly is safe ground. He loves belly rubs, and will happily lay there for hours enjoying it.

It’s fortuitous that Carrot so enjoys his belly rubs, because while spending time with Carrot and loving on him, the belly rub is probably the safest — or at least cleanest — method of giving him love. While he also loves to be held, hugged and rocked like a baby, you run a very high risk of him leaving you a “present” on your shirt. Several of our volunteers have found this out the hard way. It’s not Carrot’s fault; he doesn’t mean to do it, but being somewhat incontinent he has little control over the situation. Fortunately our volunteers are the best, most understanding people you can meet, and they just shrug, and go to clean up the mess. It never stops any of them from going right back for more Carrot hugs.

Carrot is very tolerant lately when it’s time to express his bladder. He just gets better and better, especially when compared to the days of alligator rolls when he first arrived, to the later days of “catch me if you can.” These days he just walks over to me, gets some pets, and doesn’t make any fuss when it’s time to express him. I guess he finally realized it makes him feel better. Now, if he can only have a talk with Olive and Anka!

That’s all the Carrot news for now. Thank you all for your continued support of our boy. Because of you Carrot is happy, healthy and very loved.
