Dear Carrot Friends,
Lately, Carrot has no idea if he wants to be inside the suite, or out in the solarium. I think it’s because of the crazy, ever-changing weather we’ve been having. Carrot does prefer a nice warm day to laze outside, for sure, and he keeps thinking Spring is here and he can be in the solarium more. But then it gets very cold again, and back inside he goes. He’s hoping for the real Spring soon, because he does love his outside time with his friends.
It was noted lately that Carrot is getting a little…how shall we put it?…round. The boy loves to eat, but hopefully he’ll keep it under control so we don’t have to put him on a diet. Being overweight is not good for incontinent cats, as it makes it very difficult for us to express their bladders completely. That can lead to urinary tract infections. Hopefully, once the warm weather is here, and Carrot is outside and more active, he will lose a pound or two.
Carrot had a few visitors this month. He loves to meet his friends who love and support him. He usually puts on quite a show for anyone who enters the room. He loves to play, so if you come to visit, bring in a wand toy. He also loves to hug, so get your best hugging arms ready.
I do have to share one not-so-good Carrot story. Last week, I was giving medications in the suites. As I was walking down the hallway, a huge ruckus broke out in Suite B. I could hear a lot of growling, hissing and general unhappiness. I ran to the Suite and threw the door open, already expecting it to be a fight between Misty, Simba, or another one of the hotheads in that room.
It was Carrot!
Carrot had Smitten cornered. He stood over her, all puffed up and intimidating. Smitten was flat on the ground, screaming at him. I yelled “Carrot!”, and he immediately stopped what he was doing, walked away very innocently, and looked at me like he was thinking, “I wasn’t doing anything! I’m Carrot; I was framed!”
I don’t know why I was surprised, since just a few weeks ago he did the same thing to Sweet Pea, but somehow I can’t see Carrot as a bully. Carrot is sweet, Carrot is kind, Carrot loves to hug, and Carrot is always playful and fun. One thing Carrot is not, in my mind, is a bully. I can even kinda understand him giving Smitten a hard time. Smitten is always yelling and smacking the other cats, making them afraid, and making them hide to avoid her. I think Carrot just got tired of her attitude and decided to teach her a lesson. Yeah, that must be it! Carrot is not a bully at all; he’s a hero! OK; I’m good now, the world makes sense again.
Well, that’s all the Carrot news for now. As always, thank you all for everything you do for Carrot. Because of you, he is loved and well fed, albeit a little too well.
