Update for Buddy

Update for Buddy

Greetings to Buddy’s beloveds,

Angela here, Tabby’s Place’s Development Director, filling in for your usual correspondent. I hope this update finds you having a delightful October.

“Delightful” is the order of the day when it comes to baby Buddy. Yes, I did say “baby.” Although Buddy is very much an adult, at four years of age, he had the feline equivalent of getting asked for his ID this month.

A first-time Tabby’s Place visitor was enjoying a tour when we came to Suite FIV. The visitor was intrigued by the condition, and especially by the large, clearly healthy cats living with it. (At the time of his visit, Newman, Charlie and Wolfie were dreaming away like a herd of beached walruses.)

And then the visitor spotted Buddy.

“Ooooo!” said he. I smiled knowingly. This is not an uncommon reaction to Buddy. But what he said next was a little surprising: “That one’s just a little kitten!”

I gently directed the visitor’s gaze to Buddy’s photo on the wall, complete with the note, “4 years old.”

“Oh!” said the now-surprised visitor. “He’s just so…tiny.”

I suppose everything is relative. In the land of the titans, Buddy is something of a peanut, if not quite a kitten. And, as you and I know so well, he has an ageless charm.

I’m elated to share that Buddy’s feeling as good on the inside as he looks on the outside this month. Although he’s had some tooth troubles in the past, Buddy passed this year’s dental checkup with flying colors. In fact, Buddy’s teeth look so good that he doesn’t even need a cleaning this time around; we’ll recheck in a year’s time. FIV+ cats are especially prone to dental disease, so we monitor Buddy and his buddies’ mouths especially closely.

Thank you for giving Buddy such a beautiful life, dear sponsors. I hope your month abounds in joy and happy surprises.
