Update for Bellis

Update for Bellis

Dear fellow Bellis-adorers,

Angela here, pinch-hitting for the amazing Kathryn. I write with a very full and happy heart. This week, we truly have something for which to be thankful. The day we always knew would come is here.

Our little belle has been adopted!

In fact, as I type this update, Bellis’ amazing new mama is cooing at our girl – her girl – and finishing up the adoption paperwork. Then it’s a simple ride home sweet forever home, straight into the life we’ve always wanted for Bellis.

And, dear sponsors, I am grateful to say that this is most definitely the life we’ve dreamed of for our creamsicle girl. Bellis’ new mama, Cindi, is the kind of adopter everykitty needs. As soon as I called her veterinarian to do a reference check, the receptionist began gushing: “Oh, my goodness – we just can’t say enough good things about Cindi! She would do anything for her cats. Bellis is going to be so lucky!”

What’s more, Bellis is going to have siblings to love – a lot of siblings. Among her 12 (!) fellow felines is another Tabby’s Place alumnus, feisty diabetic Malcolm. I can only imagine how excited Malcolm and the rest of the crew must be about their little sister. By the time this update reaches your inbox, they will officially – and forever – be Team Bellis.

But so, dear ones, are you. As full as my heart is today, I confess there’s also a bittersweetness about Bellis’ adoption. I’ll bet you feel it too. We are going to miss this girl something fierce at Tabby’s Place. I won’t lie; there were tears this morning as we encircled Bellis and her mama and gave our goodbye kisses. They were 99% tears of joy.

But I know the 1% sorrow is selfish sorrow. Yes, we’ll miss the angel-faced girl who always seemed to be smiling, and who taught everyone to keep smiling and keep hoping whatever life brings. But so much more than that, we give thanks that Bellis has finally – finally – been chosen as someone’s beloved, seen for the pearl she is.

It would seem our girl knows how meant-to-be this truly is. Bellis is famously unwilling to be held…but, as you can see, she settled right down in her new mama’s arms. She knew she was home.

Amazing sponsors, this day of joy would never have been possible without your love and faithful generosity. Through all of Bellis’ adventures and “close calls,” you have been the constant in her life. Words can never fully express my gratitude for all that you have meant to her.

So I simply say, happy Thanksgiving, and blessings to each of you. You are such a blessing to the little belle who will always, in a very real way, be yours.
