Update for Bellis

Greetings to Bellis’ sponsors,

The biggest medical news for our sweet girl this month is rather…well, small. Bellis had her annual vaccines.

Those rumors of potential adopters also continue to swirl. In fact, last month’s “warning” that Bellis might be leaving us led to a flurry of special visits. It seems that thinking of little Bellis’ adoption made a number of you dear sponsors decide not to put off visiting her any longer. (What a bonus! Potential adopters and special visitors!)

For her part, Bellis has been thrilled by all the attention, and also spending a good bit of time snoozing beside Mr. Grey this month. They make a quirky pair, but are each so gentle and easygoing that their friendship makes a certain sense.

When I last visited Tabby’s Place I found Bellis curled up tightly in a corner of a chair. She had found a ray of sun and was squeezing every last ounce of warmth and peace out of that ray. You can just see the sun in this picture of her.

There was a couple in the Lobby considering adopting a cat. I sat and tried to listen to them, hoping to hear the good news – the very best of news – for one lucky cat. Or two, I thought, maybe they’re adopting two!!! I couldn’t hear much of what they said, but I thought, maybe I could be of some assistance. Well, actually I was really eager to hear who they wanted to love for the rest of their lives. Whose fate would be changed forever?

I sat stroking Bellis and soaking in her warmth and peace. I made her all kinds of promises about the family that would someday be at Tabby’s Place excitedly discussing final arrangements for her trip home. They would stand in the Lobby as well, saying things like, Where will we put the new fuzzy cat bed? How will she get along with her new siblings, feline and otherwise? How lucky are we that we get to adopt sweet Bellis?

Bellis stretched and gently rested her paw on my thigh. She gave me the feeling that she was in no hurry. Things were fine and dandy as they were right now under my caressing hand, soon after a nap curled up in the sun soaking up all of the love and hope of Tabby’s Place.

She was right, of course; her time will come, and her family will also be here for her. But, in the meantime, the extended family of Tabby’s Place has a special and strong love. So why not sit in the sun, take a nap and relax?

I have many lessons to learn from our sweet girl. Thank you, kind sponsors, for letting Bellis teach us all how to squeeze the most out of one wonderful ray of sunshine.

P.S. Smiles and congratulations to Cashew the kitten, who found her home with that excited family in the lobby.
