Update for Adam

Happy September!

Adam is so excited to have fall-like weather again so he can hang out in his solarium! He is hoping that the heat of the summer is behind us and the crisp fall weather is here to stay.

Adam is still enjoying the solarium on a daily basis, basically the whole day. He has his solarium pals, Pepita, Abe and Chewbacca, with whom to spend his long, lazy days. They are the cutest pile of cat love when they are all together on the solarium shelves!

As many of you know, I am an elementary teacher and school has just gotten under way for the year. This year I have been given the priviledge of teaching an all boys class. My school is co-ed, but we have an unusual situation this year and my class has ended up being all boys. I decided on Saturday that Adam has been preparing me for this class for the last six years. My little group of boys has the reputation of being somewhat rambunctious and I told all of their parents that my goal is to help make them into little gentlemen before the year is over. It is similar to my work with Adam. I have been trying to make him into a gentleman forever!

This past weekend he showed that he is really growing up. Adam was very snuggly with a new volunteer who completely fell in love with him. He wanted to be picked up and snuggled. This isn’t typical of Adam, but he is so cute, he is hard to resist when he stretches his little arms up in the air so that you can pick him up. The volunteer asked me which cat she was loving and I was pleased to be able to tell her that it was Adam. He was being wonderful!

Then, on the same day, Adam was wonderfully polite to a group of visitors as well. He didn’t try to scratch or nip to get attention. He just rubbed on the people and got lots of love in return. It is so nice to see our little boy finally growing up!

Adam has been the lucky recipiant of “Rose’s picnics.” You may remember from the last post that Adam’s suitemate Rose had been very sick and had given us quite a scare. She is doing much better, although we are still quite concerned about her. Rose has now moved to the lobby so we can keep a close eye on her at all times, but one special volunteer has permission to take Rose to the Suite A solarium for awhile each time she visits. Rose always loved the solarium and we want her to still be able to enjoy it, although she has to be supervised while she is out there, as she is still a bit wobbly from her illness. We don’t want her to fall and get hurt. Adam gets to enjoy Rose’s “picnics” and spend some time with his long time friend when she makes her visits to the solarium.

It was thanks to the Linda Fund that Tabby’s Place has the money to be able to take care of medical emergencies like the one Rose experienced. If you are interested in contributing to the fund, your money will be matched by some very special donors until September 30. It is a wonderful way to donate to Tabby’s Place because your donation will double and it is dedicated to helping cats in very serious medical situations. Here’s the link to donate or to share with your friends to donate. It adds an even more special piece to the Tabby’s Place mission of caring for cats in desperate need.

Adam hopes that your September is off to a great start. He sends you lots of love and appreciation for all that you do for him and all of the cats at Tabby’s Place. Until next month…
