Update for Adam

Update for Adam

Dear Adam admirers,

A joyful June to you from your beloved Adam!

I have the honor of being Adam’s “guest correspondent” this month, and he has graciously allowed me to tell you some of my stories about him. I also happen to write the monthly sponsor updates for one of Adam’s suitemates, Mary. So I spend quite a bit of time in their suite, witnessing Adam’s antics.

Adam is the only cat that I’ve ever seen actually launch himself with all of his lanky bodily force at humans to shamelessly demand their attention. Adam has literally dropped onto my shoulders without warning as I’m standing below the ramp that leads from the inside room of his suite out to the solarium. He loves humans so much that he simply will not stand for folks not giving him the affection he so clearly craves.

If you do not seek him out, he will simply seek you out until you have no choice but to give him some love. I have also had Adam put his two front paws on my chest as I was standing in front of him (he climbed the cubbies until he was high enough) and spring his weight forward to try to climb up me like a tree. He is simply hilarious in his enthusiastic pleas for affection. How can anyone deny such a brazen and handsome little boy?

I and other volunteers have giggled as we wash a yucky spot off our clothing because we simply couldn’t resist Adam’s charms. Giving an incontinent kitty a hug without a towel or scrubs to protect your street clothes can result in a bit of time in the bathroom, washing out a stain. But we do it with a smile, and out of devotion to our wacky little love bug.

If I happen to be sitting on the floor with Mary, Adam wil quickly jog over to try to steal my lap first. He has the absolute funniest walk ever, especially when you see it from the ground and you’re eye-level with him. It’s kind of a mix of a slow saunter straight out of cowboy western and a wobbly baby giraffe just learning to walk. His skinny legs just kind of cross in front of him as he progresses forward in the most adorably awkward way. It can’t help but make you smile.

And there are his wide eyes staring at you, pleading with you to give him all the cuddles and pets and snuggles you just know he’s perpetually desperate for, even though he receives them from his many fan club members every single day here at Tabby’s Place. He is a lucky boy, just like all his kitty friends who have been blessed to find their way here. He receives the best care possible from his fantastic superheroine vet team, and tons of love from his legions of admirers. All thanks to you! So Adam and I thank you for all that you do for him. He is happily enjoying the early summer breezes as he snoozes in a comfy bed, just waiting for his next round of human hugs. I can assure you, he will not have to wait long!

So Adam has been spotted chewing at his legs on occasion this month, but his skin has generally improved. He no longer has areas of inflammation and by all accounts, he seems to be doing well. We’re doing everything we can to help him heal and avoid another adventure with the dreaded cone of shame.

Adam got to watch from his solarium as we held our annual memorial service for all the kitties and human volunteers we lost this year, and he agreed that it was a beautiful ceremony, as always. And Adam is looking forward to our 5th Annual Kitten Shower and Adoption Event this month. Folks are invited to bring a donation “shower gift” of supplies like litter or food, and the adoption fee for a kitten is reduced to $50. The visitors also get a tour of the entire facility, so Adam will no doubt demand and receive lots of extra attention that day!

Thank you for allowing me to update you on our awesome Adam this month. Enjoy your June, wherever you are!
