Happy April!
Adam and I wish you much happiness as spring finally approaches. Adam has had an eventful month and is excited to fill you in on all his happenings.
First, our poor boy has recently developed multiple skin lesions. He tends to lick them so much that they are irritated and don’t have the chance to heal. Unfortunately, we had to place an e-collar on him to prevent him from licking the lesions. (An e-collar, in case you didn’t know, is also known as an Elizabethan collar, a cone-shaped device put around a cat’s neck to prevent it from licking, biting or scratching an area that is healing.) Adam also developed an upper respiratory infection, which we’re treating with medication. It’s no wonder our Adam seems a little sad these days.
Adam’s sadness has only been temporary as he has been wearing his “cone of shame.” He seems to forget about the cone when visitors enter his room. For some reason, the blue e-collar has made Adam extremely eager for attention. Two weeks ago, I took a family with three little girls into Suite A to meet Paulie and Bassoon. Adam was so friendly to the whole family. He was sweet and loving, not swiping and nipping. I was so happy. He even climbed into my lap and gave me kisses! That was the very first time that Adam has ever shown me any affection! It was lovely. He was so sweet and kind with the little girls that they wanted to take Adam home! I had to let them know that, unfortunately, Adam was not the right kitty for their family, but that he was very happy to have their love whenever they visted him at Tabby’s Place.
This week I took another family into Suite A to meet Louie. Adam was not as wonderful this week as he was last week. He was back to being his usual bratty self. He was swatting at me, trying to climb one of the women who was visiting, and generally being Adam. What I love to see is that most people who meet Adam are completely charmed by him, no matter how annoying he is! I guess they see what we see, a really loving cat wrapped in a funny package. Adam is simply adorable.
I tried to get some good pictures for you of Adam in his e-collar but it was very difficult to do. He really was not cooperating much. I did get a few pictures but it took a bit of coaxing and I did get swatted and nipped in the process. I’m glad to see that the e-collar hasn’t slowed down Adam’s ability to communicate his dislike of my taking his picture!
Adam and I hope that you all have a wonderful April. The weather is finally warming up a bit and the flowers are getting a chance to bloom. Adam thanks you for your generosity to him and to Tabby’s Place. He knows that his life is wonderful and full of fun visitors and volunteers because of all that you give to him. Hopefully this spring will offer you a chance to come to Tabby’s Place and visit our little wonder tabby.
If not, Adam and I will continue to regale you with tales of his exploits each month.
Enjoy your April, friends.
