Happy February, friends!
Adam and I hope that this month finds you enjoying life and celebrating Valentine’s Day with a bit of chocolate (well, chocolate for you and tuna for Adam, as he insists that I get my priorities straight)!
Our exuberant boy has had a quiet month in terms of health. Other than a very slight dip in weight, Adam is perfectly stable. (Well, medically. Mentally is another story!)
Adam has been enjoying his neighbors this month and is back to being awake when I visit! It has been strangely mild for this time of year in New Jersey and Adam has been able to go back and forth to the solarium again. I think this really means a lot for him in terms of his mental well-being. His months of hibernating have seemed to have come to an end.
Although Adam can go out to his solarium, I have found him to be more inside than outside lately. He has a particular spot on the climbing cubbies (that leads to the ramp outside) that he has taken on as his own “special” location. It is in a perfect place for seeing out the window that shows the hallway and all the coming and going of the staff and volunteers. He is also now “top bunkmates” with Louie, who has taken up residence in the cubby below Adam. Since these are two of my favorite tabbies in existence, it does make my Suite A visits extra enjoyable! Adam has also been enjoying the presence of a new cat to his room, Bassoon, who is a young tuxedo girl and very playful. Adam likes to watch her antics!
A few weeks ago, a family wanted to visit with some of the cats in Suite A and play with them with a wand toy. I took them in and watched Boom and Mary have a great time with the toy. Suddenly Adam came over with the intent to join them in their game. It was so funny to watch him!
He really has no idea how to be a cat, poor boy. He tried to swat at the wand toy, but just kind of hit it without much force and then watched it glide back towards him with no malice whatsoever! Adam really doesn’t seem to have the hunting instinct that makes playing with “the bird” be so much fun. He did have a nice time interacting with the guests and his fellow roomies, even if he didn’t really understand the game. One of these days Adam…
I have had the pleasure of volunteering on Saturdays lately with Rose’s correspondent. We have been sharing funny stories of both Adam and Rose since we both know them so well from spending so much time in Suite A gathering stories to share with you. We did discover that both of us were having a hard time getting our respective cats to pose for pictures for us.
So we tried an experiment. I went into Suite A and tried to get some pictures of Rose and she went in a few minutes later and tried to get some pictures of Adam. Those little stinkers! Adam posed beautifully for her when just moments earlier he had given me real stink-eye when I tried to get pictures of him! Rose was very uncooperative with her correspondent but was beautiful for me when I took her picture. I think both cats know their respective correspondents and are tired of us always trying to get pictures of them. They love to pose for other people though. I guess we’ll have to continue to take pictures of each other’s cats for awhile until they catch on to what we are doing!
Well, that’s all the news, for now, dear friends. Adam and I thank you so much for your support of him and of Tabby’s Place. We wish you a lovely month. Hopefully, we will keep this mild weather for a while longer. We will back next month with more Adam news!
