Happy November, dear friends!
Adam is delighted to welcome you to this month of gratitude. He is hoping you have much to be thankful for as this holiday season gets underway.
Adam certainly has so much to be grateful for. He has his solarium with its exciting new climbing shelves. He has his friends Rose and Pepita (and occasionally Steven). He has special children friends who love to spend time reading to him. He couldn’t ask for more!
This month has been especially calm for our crazy tabby. No news for Adam? Well, that’s never exactly the case, but at least there’s no medical news for our madcap, mischievous boy. In social news, Adam’s doing well with his new neighbors, some of whom (ahem, Cleo) aren’t exactly neighborly. Cats aside, Adam enjoys a regular stream of human visitors. I never cease to be moved by how sponsors and friends are happy to ignore the challenges of visiting Adam (likelihood of leakage, getting climbed and clawed by trademark Adam enthusiasm) in order to see him and show him love.
Adam still enjoys his visits from his special little boy friend. Every time we do our Paws to Read program, Adam has one repeat visitor who loves to read to him and spend time with him. This amazing child usually spends over an hour with Adam each time, and even though I offer to let him read to other cats, he always wants to hang with Adam. It really warms my heart, because most children don’t have the patience for our nutty one. This boy loves Adam and Adam loves him. He even has brought a few friends to read to Adam and they love him too.
The last time Adam was read to, the boy forgot to bring his book with him. Since his friend’s mom dropped him off, he didn’t even have a book stashed in the car that he could read. He did find a dictionary in his friend’s car, so he brought that in to read to Adam. He spent the hour looking up any words that he thought cats might find interesting. I don’t know if Adam enjoyed the dictionary, but I got a kick out of finding out which words the young man had chosen to share with the cats!
Adam has spent little time indoors this fall as the weather here in New Jersey has been unusually warm. However, I have found Adam inside on several occasions. He loves to hang out on top of the ramp and practice his “hyena from the Lion King” stalk. He walks back and forth on the ramp, staring down his neighbors and reminding everyone who the boss is in Suite A. Adam truly believes he rules the room, and in all actuality, he really does. He is one of the longest residents of the room, so he has earned his reign.
Adam is also grateful for you, dear friends. He thanks you from the bottom of his little furry heart for all of the wonderful things that your sponsorship brings for him. He hopes you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, full of love and turkey!
