Happy October, friends!
Adam is still waiting for lovely autumn weather to grace his solarium. We have quite the warm spell here in New Jersey so far this month. It hasn’t stopped Adam from enjoying the new climbing towers in Solarium A. He is having a grand old time!
Our boy benefited/suffered from human error this month. Some well-meaning soul mistakenly fed the Suite A cats regular treats, and (presumably) another friend accidentally distributed non-prescription food throughout the room. The cats were delighted…until they had copious diarrhea. We’ve instructed our volunteers to be more careful about keeping the cats on their proper diets. Otherwise, Adam has had a happy, mellow month.
All is right in Adam’s world because Hank has been adopted! This is great news for Hank, who has found a home as an only cat with a woman who is ready and willing to work with Hank and help him become the happy, adjusted cat that we know he can be.
This is great news for Adam as well. He no longer has to share his solarium with Hank. Now he only has to contend with Pepita, Rose and Steven for the space. They all seem to get along well, except for an occasional misunderstanding. Adam seems calmer and more at ease with his current roomies than he has in a long time. They are all such mellow cats that they seem to be rubbing off on him.
This weekend Adam enjoyed a visit from his reading buddy. Staff member Lisa’s son loves to read to Adam. He really seems to understand Adam and enjoy spending time with him. This is great for Adam because he is not always the easiest cat to enjoy.
This lovely young man has a wonderful way with animals and has such a love for our quirky tabby. I adore it when he comes to read because I know that Adam will have a lot of attention that day.
This week he brought a friend with him who also enjoyed reading and talking with Adam. She brought a little miniature copy of a biography of Beatrix Potter. It was an adorable little book and Adam seemed to really like it. He even tried to read it! Watching these two children give Adam and the other cats in the solarium so much love really made my day. Adam got lots of petting and he allowed it! There was no nipping or swatting happening at all. Maybe the key to Adam is to have children work with him. It seems to be the magic that Adam needs!
Adam hopes that this fall season finds you all well. He is so thankful to you for all that you do for him. He knows that he has such a great life at Tabby’s Place and it wouldn’t be possible without wonderful people like you. Enjoy the changing of the leaves and smell of pumpkin spice! We will be back with more news next month.
