Adam has had a mysterious month as he has lost a little weight and seems a little down. Perhaps it is due to his usual tummy troubles. In that area of Adam news – wouldn’t it be nice if our boy could be on the lowest possible dose of medication? (Never mind med-free!) Adam had been doing well, so we tried to lower his medication. In response, he promptly resumed his spectacular diarrhea, so we had to up it again. One of these days Adam’s colon won’t be quite the mystery that it remains to be. In the meantime, we will just keep exploring all of the ways that we can keep him comfortable and less “explosive”!
In sillier news, a friend of Adam’s stopped by for a visit not long ago, but made the mistake of arriving just before dinner. Adam was eagerly anticipating his food, so while he accepted some attention, his main concern was getting a mouthful…so he tried a mouthful of his friend’s sweater. Needless to say, it did not satisfy his hunger.
When I last visited with Adam he was delightfully playful. When I arrived at Tabby’s Place, I walked past the window to Suite A and saw that our little tabby prince was sound asleep in one of the cubbies. I figured I wouldn’t get much Adam play time, but I went in the room anyway. I decided I could at least get a cute picture of him all curled up and peaceful. As soon as I opened the door to the room, Adam came running over to me. I couldn’t believe it!
I had brought Adam’s special mouse toy with me again. If you’ll recall, this is the mouse toy that Adam likes to catch and then groom as if it is his baby. He seems to have no predatory instincts toward the toy at all. Mary and Boom had a great time pouncing on the toy and batting it around. Adam just stared at it. He played with it for a moment or two, but then he was content to let his friends enjoy themselves. Adam is such a hoot! He really never acts like a cat.
Adam has really come far in his willingness to be stroked and loved. I was able to really pet him for several minutes and he never made a move to nip at me or get me to stop. This is progress! It has only taken two or three years!
Adam hopes that all of you have the happiest of holiday seasons. He is so grateful for all that you do for him and he sends you oodles of love. If you are ever in the Tabby’s Place neighborhood, please stop by and say hi. Adam would love to receive petting (or the taste of a good sweater – he’s not picky) and give you lots of affection in return. Happy New Year!
