Update for Adam

Happy November, Adam people! Adam is enjoying the cooler weather and hopes you are settling in to the changes in the season.

Our little buddy is doing really well right now. He is happy and healthy and enjoying life both in the suite and outside in the solarium.

It’s apparently a rule; if we discontinue one of Adam’s antibiotics, he will always get diarrhea. So this month we accept that Adam must remain on this medication permanently. We were able to discontinue one of his other medications (a gastrointestinal motility drug). Doing so had the happy side effect of making Adam’s bladder easier to express—so much so that he generally hasn’t needed his bladder relaxant. Adam did have a bout of inflammation on his anus in October, which our brave staff treated by wiping him with baby wipes and applying ointment. (We’ve since been able to discontinue that.)

Adam has really been enjoying having some visitors as of late. He has been very welcoming to his suite whenever anyone wants to stop in a visit him in Suite A. One day last week, he was asleep on a little hammock bed in the corner of the suite by the window that leads to the hallway. A woman I was showing around stopped and saw Adam. She liked his name and decided that it was a really good cat name. Apparently she likes to give her kitties, what she calls, “terrible names”. But she greatly approved of Adam!

Adam must have liked the conversation that he was hearing on the other side of the window. He lifted up his little head and looked right at the lady, as if to say, “Hello, you rang?”. He really can be so cute!

I am still having some success petting Adam without him getting too over stimulated. It is nice to get a few moments petting his sweet little head.

Adam is still having a good time swaggering around the Suite A solarium. His friends Pepita and Rose are still hanging with him. All three are really sweet cats and they are so good with guests whenever someone wants to spend some time petting a fuzzy little head.

Enjoy these waning days of fall, good friends. Adam gives many thanks for you and all that you do for him. He hopes that you have the most wonderful of Novembers and a joyous Thanksgiving.
