Update for Adam

It’s finally spring, my friends!

Adam is so happy to be enjoying warmer weather at last. He hopes that you are as well.

Adam is his usual self these days. He is as whacky and lovable as ever.

We’re weighing our wild child weekly, and have been pleased to find that (in this regard, at least) he’s stable. Unfortunately, Adam’s gastrointestinal tract hasn’t been so steady. He’s continued to have on-and-off diarrhea and constipation, the latter sometimes so severe that he needs an enema, which inevitably causes the former…in explosive measure. We’re honestly at a bit of a loss with Adam at this point, so we’re going to retest him for tritrichomonas. (He recently tested negative following treatment, but we believe this may have been inaccurate.) If he is truly negative for the parasite, we may consider putting Adam on non-prescription food. Although this will almost certainly cause him to have diarrhea, it will spare him the horrors of constipation.

Prior to that, though, we’re going to try adding a stool softener to this prescription diet. If he has to be constipated and/or afflicted with diarrhea, we — and Adam — would prefer that he only have one of these problems.

This month, Adam did have another bout with constipation bad enough to warrant an enema. If you recall, the last enema prompted Adam’s back end to “explode.” Well, it happened again, and several of our intrepid volunteers had to venture into Suite A to clean up after Adam. What a sight!

There is a new directive not to put blankets on the floor of Suite A. This will hopefully keep things a little more manageable. It just seems to invite trouble, and means that much more laundry to do.

Adam is still learning to be a good boy and be affectionate in appropriate ways. I do wish he would figure this out. He is so cute, and I just want to mush him, but alas, if I do, I get nipped and scratched. As always, Adam lovers, I will keep trying to help our little boy become a wise and loving young man. One of these days…

In the meantime, thank you so much for loving our little tabby and being such wonderful sponsors. Adam appreciates and loves you so much. Happy spring!
