Update for June

Hello and Happy Almost-Autumn, June fanciers!

Time for another update on this sweet girl. Medical news first: there is none. June has enjoyed a month of good health, and long may it last!

In addition to “skritches” on either side of her neck, we’ve recently discovered that June enjoys shoulder skritches. She’ll sit up very tall while you gently scratch the area around her shoulder blades, and I could swear I heard a very soft purr while I was giving her skritches a couple of weeks ago. I wish she was less skittish around people in general, but once she trusts you, she’ll keep coming back to you for affection.

Despite being a paraplegic, June gets around to a degree that amazes staff and volunteer alike. We have known for some time that June can climb cat trees on her own and get down safely from them. Apparently, that’s not enough for her. Not long ago, our Director of Development saw June launch herself from the upper level of a cat tree and land on all four paws before her back legs gave out and she scooted off. This is one amazingly strong (and strong-minded) young lady!

If ever you come to Tabby’s Place to see June and can’t locate her in the Community Room, be sure to check under the blanket on the very large, cushy cat bed. Tabby’s Place always has a few cats who are burrowers, and June has become one, though I don’t think this behavior was so noticeable before we got that enormous cat bed.

This little sweetheart makes us smile every day. We know that most shelters would not be able to keep June for any length of time, but, thanks to you, we’re able to make sure she gets good food, great care, and lots of love.

Stephanie
