Update for Adam

Happy July friends!

Adam and I hope that this month finds you enjoying the summer sunshine.  Adam certainly has been.  He is a solarium boy once again.

Our personality-plus tabby has had a bit of a rough month.  Adam lost more weight from his tiny frame, so we’ve begun offering him wet food midday, and we’re checking his weight every week.  We haven’t been able to find anything serious, but we will continue to monitor him closely.

It was also a rough month in Suite A because we lost Adam’s friend Jimmy to FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) a few weeks ago.  Jimmy was one of Adam’s solarium buddies and they were often in close proximity as they enjoyed their sunbeams.  FIP is a cruel disease and unfortunately took Jimmy from us in only a few short weeks from showing any symptoms.  All of the cats and the people of Tabby’s Place miss Jimmy very much.  He was such a good buddy to Adam and they looked so cute when they cuddled.  Their little tabby bodies were almost identical in coloring and it was often hard to tell who was who when they were curled in a ball, fast asleep.

Adam has been enjoying visits from the usual slew of summertime guests that frequent Tabby’s Place in the warmer months.  A few weeks ago, two sweet college age boys stopped by to see the cats.  I took them into Suite A to meet the kitties and, of course, Adam came trotting right over to say hi.  The guys really enjoyed Adam and the other cats of Suite A and were trying to convince each other that having incontinent cats wouldn’t be that much trouble to live with at all!  They wanted to adopt them all.

Adam is loving the hot weather we are having in New Jersey and is not phased at all by the thunderstorms that rumble through from time to time.  I was there for one of these storms and I went to the solarium to check on Adam and his friends to make sure they weren’t worried about the thunder and lightning.  I was a little unnerved because it was a loud, dark storm, but the cats were simply snoozing away out in the solarium as if nothing was happening at all.  Oh, to be so relaxed!

Adam wants to thank you for everything that you have been doing for him this year.  He is having a very happy summer and is enjoying his life of leisure immensely.  He knows that he has you to thank for this and he sends you many kitty kisses.  Have a wonderful July and we’ll be back with another Adam update in August.
