Update for Mona

Hello dear sponsors,

I hope that you are all well and enjoying the sunny days and crisp evenings of October.

I especially enjoy this time of year. Of course, since the weather has been so nice, I have been spending most of my time in the solarium.

Here at Tabby’s Place we have had some sad news. We had to say goodbye to our former suitemate Hobbes. You may remember that Hobbes, who was also FIV+, had moved into the office of our Executive Director, Jonathan. He and Jonathan had such a wonderful, loving relationship. Hobbes loved people (especially Jonathan), and enjoyed sitting in everyone’s lap. We were all so sad to learn that he had developed a rare cancer. He passed peacefully, surrounded by those who loved him. Saying goodbye really reminds us how precious each moment is for us.

Recently, my darling Hocus had bloodwork and X-rays. His lung tumor is slightly larger since last check 6 months ago, but all his bloodwork looked good. For some reason, though, he is still spraying on blankets. The staff and volunteers are very kind and helpful. Whenever this happens, they don’t get upset; they just provide us with freshly cleaned blankets.

Newman, Buddy and I had our yearly dental check-ups, and each of us had perfect smiles. This is great news, since cats with FIV are more prone to dental problems.

I am feeling well. I enjoying resting and watching all the doings in our suite. I am also quite happy when someone stops by to talk with me, and to pet me gently.

I am looking forward to Halloween, especially since I have all my treats served to me in my suite. I am safe and sound here at Tabby’s Place, but please remember that Halloween can be a dangerous time for animals. If you share your life with animal companions, make sure that they are safe inside your house!

Thank you again for all that you do for me, and all of my friends here!
