Our boy is enjoying a good month, and he is so grateful for everything that you do for him.
Since it is September and I am a teacher, it is back to school time for me. At my school, we have parent conferences before school starts. The parents can tell me everything they want me to know about their children before I even meet the little ones. This can be helpful, and it is often insightful. I thought it might be fun to try and write how one of these conferences might go for our Adam.
How has your child grown or changed from last year? Well, Adam has grown so much in the past year. He is a much happier, more affectionate boy. He plays well with his suitemates and is enjoying human attention more than he used to. I am so pleased with the strides he is making, and I hope that they will continue this year.
What is your home routine like? Adam wakes up early in the morning and takes his usual morning stroll around his suite. He paces back and forth in front of the cubbies for awhile, eats some food, and then watches people clean his room. At lunch time, he strolls around again, stops at the food bowl for a bite, continues his walk, goes back for more food, and then settles down in a comfy bed to watch people go by outside the window of his room. At dinnertime, he gets a dish of yummy wet food, eats this quickly, then washes his face with his paws, finds another comfy bed and takes a nap. In the evening, Adam enjoys watching his suitemates play with each other, and he likes waiting in the dark until morning comes and he can start this routine all over again.
Any health problems or other things that I should know about? He hasn’t been taking it quite long enough to evaluate things yet, but at least Adam is now actually getting his fiber supplement. First we tried putting it in his food, but he wasn’t having any of that. Now he’s getting it in a capsule, and our determined team makes sure it gets into him. Otherwise, Adam is having a happy-go-lucky month of stable health. If Adam asks to use the bathroom, please let him go immediately. He is not asking so that he can get out of class. He often has accidents, so it is in the class’s best interest if he gets to go when he needs to!
Describe your child’s personality. Adam is a very quirky boy. He is extremely lovable and absolutely adorable to look at. He wants to be loved so much. From time to time, this longing to be loved and accepted makes him act out in not-so-desirable ways. However, he has been working on this and is doing quite well. He can get “paws-y” and try to swipe at people when he wants some attention. If you just tell him no and move back, he will get the message and stop. Then you can try again to engage him, and usually you will get appropriate behavior. Adam is a very affectionate cat on his own terms. He will come to you and rub on you for some loving. If you go to him first, you may find that he gets overstimulated, and you need to back away for a bit. When he comes to you, you will get rubbed and purred at and really experience the full force of Adam’s love.
Well, there you have it, Adam’s conference for school. Hopefully he will have a great year. He sends you many kitty kisses and wishes you a great school year too!
