Update for TNR Fund

Update for TNR Fund

Happy May, Team TNR.

I hope this update finds you swimming in springtime mirth. As predicted, we are now up to our earlobes in kittens at Tabby’s Place. What a difference a month makes!

As you’ll recall, this time last month, we were bracing ourselves for Kitten Season. A weirdly-lingering winter and the simple slings and arrows of feline unpredictability left us kittenless even in mid-April.

That’s all changed, courtesy of one wild TNR project.

But first, a bit of history. Several years ago, Tabby’s Place became involved with an out-of-control cat colony behind a local motel. It was everything you’d expect: unspayed adults galore, kittens coming out of every nook and cranny. Through patient teamwork with other organizations and wonderful individuals, we helped to get the galumphing hordes of cats under control.

For a time.

We were dismayed when we got word that not all was well at the old motel. Numerous new arrivals made quick work of making kittens, and the cat colony was again city-sized.

We’re committed to caring for these cats — and keeping them safe, healthy, and “non-productive” when it comes to kittens. And so, in addition to helping in a hands-on way as much as possible, Tabby’s Place is financially supporting the efforts of other trustworthy organizations.

Back at the ranch, though, we have our own merry band of motel cats. Meet magnificent mama Apple, and the wee ones who didn’t fall far from her tree: Cameo, Gala, Macintosh, Baldwin and Braeburn. (That’s glorious little Gala in the close-up.)

Thanks to your tenacious, generous love, these little ones will grow up adored, indoors, and without kittens of their own. And thanks to the hugeness of your hearts, untouchably feral but undeniably precious cats behind a certain New Jersey motel will also receive the very best in treatment, compassion and love.

Thank you, dear sponsors. It is a delight to serve these courageous cats with you. Have a beautiful month!
