Update for TNR Fund

Happy April, Team TNR!

I hope your heart is feeling warmer than the solarium sunshine these days. You’ve got ample reason for that — you’ve made this one amazing month for our community cats.

Let’s start with our brave late-winter arrival Wesley. Little Wes is nearly finished with his bandage changes…and it seems he’s also finished with fearing us. Although wee Wesley is still timid, his ever-fearful “feral eyes” have given way to slow blinks and careful petting sessions. As you can see below, Wesley is feeling much better, body and soul.

So is Hawkins, the brave boy with the atrocious injuries. Our big guy is adjusting well to life on three legs, and he’s made a magnificent recovery. Alas, Hawkins is still not enamored with us…but it seems we may have found the best possible home for him. More news on that next month.

As far as friendly former ferals, the news is all good. Upper respiratory infection-afflicted Chachi is breathing much more easily these days, as he settles into Suite FIV at Tabby’s Place. Chachi is such a snuggly mush-ball that he’s already acquired a platoon of human admirers. In addition to a raft of medications, staff and volunteer affection is helping Chachi to heal. He’s come a long way from the days when he was so “snotty” that observers thought he was foaming at the mouth.

And then there’s our newest TNR treasure, Eponine (pictured at right). We’re not sure how this effusively-affectionate girl found her way to a local supermarket…but we’re awfully grateful she found her way to our TNR team. From the moment we trapped Eponine (very easily), the beautiful calico has not ceased “making muffins” my kneading her paws up and down.

This is scarcely an exaggeration. Eponine literally kneads without ceasing — at least any time a human being appears. Walk into her suite, and she’ll begin her merry march; start to pet her, and she’ll knead so vigorously she nearly goes airborne. It’s a quirky, adorable Eponine oddity — she just can’t contain her happiness. Her mission is to love and be loved in return…

…and this month, her mission has been accomplished. Just days after Eponine finished her standard Quarantine period at Tabby’s Place, she lassoed the heart of an adopter. As I type this update, she’s enjoying her first week in her forever home.

Dear sponsors, when it comes to your kindness, I can hardly contain my happiness and gratitude. If I were feline, I’d be “making muffins” like a madwoman right now. But instead, I’ll simply thank you from the depths of my heart. Know that you are saving and blessing lives every day at Tabby’s Place!
