Update for Steven

Happy November, Friends!

Steven and I hope that this lovely month finds you in good spirits.  Tabby’s Place is abuzz with excitement and Steven has been enjoying the benefit of so many new faces who have been wandering the halls these days.

At the beginning of this past month, Steven developed a limp and was given some pain medications to make him more comfortable. The limp resolved but returned again, and he was given a different medication for pain/discomfort. It looks as though there have been some arthritic changes to his right foot.  He moves along between the solarium and the suite in his usual Steven fashion, however, he is moving a bit slower these days.  Steven has also had the undignified problem in the past month of needing several “tushie” baths.  It seems as if grooming his hind end isn’t as easy as it used to be for our Stevie, and the staff has had to intervene and give him a lower half bath on a couple of occasions.

It has been a bit of a sad month for Steven because his best friend in Suite A, Wonton, passed away a few weeks ago.  Steven has been sleeping a bit more and spending more time by himself.  He and Wonton used to snuggle and hang out together in the solarium all the time.  He seems to be missing his friend and has just seemed a bit down.  But that is totally understandable.  Cats mourn losses too.  The staff and volunteers have been giving him a lot of extra love and we are very happy that, when we call to him, he still comes running for some pets and snuggles.

Steven had the fun opportunity of being read to this month by one of our young visitors.  He really enjoyed meeting her and getting to hear a story.  I will be sure to put him on the Paws to Read rotation schedule so he will get read to more frequently.

We are nearing the time when we can actually move into Quinn’s Corner, our new expansion. The area is cleaned and ready, but awaiting some final inspections before we can get our certificate of occupancy. We are so excited about this new chapter at Tabby’s Place and are looking forward to the day when we can finally see all of this work come to fruition.

In this month of thankfulness Steven and I send our gratitude for all that you do for him and for Tabby’s Place.  You are such a true and faithful friend to Steven, and he sends you his love.

Sue
