Update for Stafford

Standing tall and perky!

Hello, Stafford fans! Ready for another update on our boy?

Medical news first! Stafford has enjoyed a month of good health, for which we are more grateful than we can express. Considering that he has had us concerned in recent months, this means a great deal.

We have to wonder whether Stafford misses his sessions as a therapy cat. We know that the seniors who participate in our Aged to Purrfection program love their feline companions, and Stafford is so gentle with people and so good-natured that we can’t help thinking he does miss the interactive time. Fortunately, he doesn’t seem to down-hearted by the lack of visitors to Tabby’s Place.

He’s been seen playing with toys not infrequently. And Stafford seems to really enjoy his outdoor time in the stroller…but then I don’t think I’ve mentioned that before.

Enjoying the stroller ride!

Tabby’s Place has a couple of strollers designed specifically for pets, and some of our volunteers take selected felines out for walks in the strollers.  We call it the Curbside Volunteering program. It’s good mental stimulation, and our fur babies get some fresh air and sunshine, too.  And it gives our volunteers who are not otherwise allowed to visit the kitties yet (some volunteers are back, but many are not so that we can manage the capacity in the building and physical distancing).

As always, we’ve found that some felines who we’d think would love these stroller rides don’t take well to them (and it serves us right for trying to predict a cat’s behavior!), but Stafford is so laid-back that you’d think he’d been walked in a stroller since he was a kitten.

Now more than ever, I am grateful that you’ve chosen to continue helping us keep Stafford well-cared-for. Thank you!
