Dear Fans of Shifty,

It is always nice to post positive news about the cats at Tabby’s Place; this month shows our fine fellow Shifty in a “social butterfly” mood!  He seems to be developing more friendships, and may even have a new romance budding!

The writer C.S. Lewis once said: “Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: ‘What! You too? I thought I was the only one.’ ”  Shifty may have turned to his new friend and fellow suite-mate Bosco and said just that!  Bosco, a big yellow fellow, shares Shifty’s enthusiasm at mealtime. However, both are a bit finicky when it comes to the selections offered.  They will try their offerings, then look at each other as if to say “you don’t like it, either?” They then change places behind the paper dinner trays and nibble at the other’s dinner.  If they decide they each like it better, they stay put and finish each other’s plates.  Their mutual sharing at dinner time is fun to behold, and I think has made their friendship a deeper bond.

Shifty has also been spotted sharing a cat-bed with a lovely female resident of his suite.  Is he turning on the charm, in his svelte gray suit with white kid-gloves and matching bib?  Am I correct to assume that Cupid is preparing his bow with a love-arrow in their direction? Shifty seems quite accommodating to this pretty feline, who will remain anonymous until I can prove my Cupid claim…..

I am happy to update you that Shifty remains in good health.  His eyes sparkle when he looks at you; his coat shines and his white attributes are always clean.  He obviously tends to himself personally quite well; his impeccable appearance adds to his charm.  No matter if he is on the cat-tree, in one of his many siesta beds, or reclining on the sofa in the Employee/Volunteer Lounge he calls “home,” Shifty always looks his best.
