Happy June, dear Sponsors!

Each week, for a few years now, I’ve made a habit of visiting with my buddy Scooter after attending to my cleaning duties at Tabby’s Place. What I have come to discover, over time, is that his temperament is changeable (and not just because he is a cat). Some days he allows me to dote all over him, and other days his wants nothing to do with me.

However, I was quite curious when, two weeks in a row, all I had to do was look at him and he would begin to purr, without me even petting him. Heaven knows I am not complaining about that kind of greeting, but it is not typical Scooter behavior, even though his moods may shift and sway.

At first, I thought he might be in a rivalry with fellow suite-mate Goldie, who is a mush to all humans he encounters. Goldie is another one of my buddies from Tabby’s Place, and when he recently moved to Suite A, both my boys were sharing the same living quarters.

I doubt Scooter ever saw me mush all over another cat with hugs and kisses the way Goldie allows. I thought Scooter’s new-found purring could be him learning, through observation, that this is OK human/feline behavior. Or, perhaps he did not like me sharing my affections with another, and upped-the-ante by behaving in kind with his competition.

But then I found out that our Scooter was seen limping around, and after a thorough examination, it was determined he has a bit of arthritis. That got me wondering; maybe he was just generally in better spirits due to finding relief through his new pain medication (lovingly delivered by the Tabby’s Place staff)?

And here I was hoping that Scooter was just happy to see me. 🙂 Either way, it does not matter. Scooter purring is an awesome thing. A purring Scooter is a happy Scooter; and a happy Scooter…well…is a happy Scooter! What more can a Scooter fan ask for?!
