Update for Sammy

Dear Sammy Supporters,

I’ve been noticing a trend lately with Sammy. The last few times I’ve dropped by to visit, Sammy seems to be spending more and more time in Pixie’s window box. Now I can’t say I blame her. With the wonderful view of the outside, and the occasional bird sighting, and the feel of that lovely sunshine on your fur, what cat wouldn’t want to hang out and snooze on soft, cuddly blankets? It seems like a natural choice, right?

But there’s something else. For a long time Sammy was huddled by herself on a chair or in one of the cat trees in the Community Room. And I felt so sorry for her, knowing that her dear cat friend Max had been moved to another location for medical reasons. And she hadn’t seemed to make any new friends.

Lately, however, that scenario has changed. Sammy is no longer spending her days alone. I have discovered her in the window box more than once in the company of another cat. Often, it’s Pixie, and they make a lovely pair. But just the other day I spotted Sammy with Puzzle, a beautiful black-and-white cat, and it was most extraordinary to see them together, getting along, friendly. They were nose-to-nose, sniffing and making googly eyes at each other. Then they both settled down on the comfy blanket, their furry bodies in contact with each other, for a long snooze.

So dare I say it–Sammy seems to be well-integrated into the Community Room. She has friends. Her health is good. She seems very happy, and she’s totally excited about the upcoming holidays!!

Okay, well, maybe I’m more excited than she is, but she’s looking forward to turkey!

As always, Sammy and I thank you for your continued generosity to Tabby’s Place. We hope you enjoy this delightful fall weather we are having (when it isn’t raining), and we look forward to seeing you next month.
