Update for Rose

Update for Rose

Dear Sponsors,

Is it really July already? I see it as having more than half a year left to do some amazing things! Hope your 4th of July holiday was fun. Our feline 4th was very relaxing, my lobby pals and I gathered to ignore the fireworks together. I heard that in Europe there are “silent fireworks,” and I hope they come worldwide soon!

Tushie nap time

I love listening to volunteers and staff talk about their excursions to the shore (or some call the beach). I think I would love the sand because it is like litter, and there are many photos of me rolling around in clean litter boxes.

I also hear that the food on the boardwalk is fun and yum. My correspondent spent a lot of time at the shore growing up, and she told me about a delicious summer ice cream novelty that uses Neapolitan ice cream (vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate ice creams) sandwiched between two large freshly made waffles. Sounds out of this world! I am also curious about salt water taffy, but not sure if they make tuna or chicken taffy!

My friend Hips sharing the lobby couch with me

Last week Olive and I were glued to the lobby doors watching the construction crew pave the new Quinn’s Corner parking lot, and then watched as they added lines for the parking spots. I shake my furry head because for the life of me I can’t understand how they paint such straight lines without using a ruler. I shut my eyes and can picture all the parking spots full of visitors coming to meet us cats. I also picture maybe one day meeting you in person, so I can thank you for being my special needs sponsor and my family. I will be waiting for you on the couch with a very special belly rub!

My new lobby pal Hips seems to follow me whenever I relax on the lobby couch. My correspondent took this photo of us together and said, “Hips & Rose would be a great name for a food truck.” That would be so much fun. I better get started on the menu, and work on getting a driver’s license—that is, after I take a cat nap rolled in a ball, hop into a stroller for a ride, or rest in the cat tree!

Stroller Time!

I have been keeping myself quite busy this summer. No summer vacation for Rose this year—there’s just too much to do! This li’l black-and-white furry southern kitty is on a mission to help Tabby’s Place. I stay extra groomed when I know that I will be greeting new volunteers, visitors, and adopters. It is important to check that there is no wet food that dried on my nose—yes, this happens a bit too often!

Performing my welcoming duties

My new task is to jump up on the reception desk and stand next to the Welcome sign with the Wi-Fi code (see picture). I also love a good vantage point so I can see everything and everyone in the lobby, as well as the location of all food dishes, which need my help! As a proper southern belle, my mama instilled manners in me from a young kitten age and always told me to get along with my friends. Well, I do declare, Grecca has had some friendly spats over who finishes which food dishes. Mind you, Grecca is extremely sweet and a finicky eater and often has 3-4 dishes of food nearby. I am doing a public service by helping her with the leftovers. My good food news is that my correspondent was just named permanent dinner volunteer on Saturdays, so she will make sure that Grecca and I have plenty to eat without food sparring!

I recall when I was a kitten that my mama and the elders told me that sometimes cats and kittens become angels and go to heaven to watch over us. Sadly, I lost two friends this week, Bellamy my lobby pal, and Perseus, a gentle soul who lived near the lobby and would visit us. I hope they know how much I miss them.

This month my health update is definitely “half full.” I see this as a positive. I had a few “off” days this month when I seemed to be feeling less than 100% Rose. The vet staff kept their eyes on me, and each incident resolved on its own.

Enjoy your July! I am sending you summer whisker kisses this month, filled with sunshine and the smell of the ocean!
Love,
Rose
