Update for Rose

Fast Asleep!

Dearest Sponsor,

One of the things I enjoy since becoming a lobby resident is sharing our happenings with you! As my favorite and caring sponsor, you are my family, and my mama always said that family shares smiles with family. In my last update, I shared a wish that the 4 brothers with feline leukemia would find a forever home. I took my wish even further and wished they were adopted together. Wishes do come true, and a wonderful adopter opened their home and heart to ALL 4 brothers! We have one remaining handsome li’l panther named Oram who has feline leukemia and is wishing for his forever home. I will start my wish magic!

Post bath

It’s time to get out the welcome wagon because our newest lobby resident is a cat that I have nicknamed “Handsome” Hips. He is one of the sweetest cats that I have ever met. His goal in life is to make friends with all cats and humans. I enjoy resting on a thick blanket on top of Hips’ overnight crate. This gives me a great view into the suites and around the lobby.

The amazing builders for Quinn’s Corner are working very hard to make our dreams come to life. The construction crew (in long sleeve shirts) were working on a recent Saturday with scorching temperatures close to a sunny 100 degrees. They were working on a total renovation of the main lobby entrance. Staff members and volunteers went back and forth from the lounge with cold glasses of water to give to them. If I could have shared our cat water fountain in the lobby, I would have. Olive and I stand at the lobby door and watch the construction progress every day!

On construction watch duty

I do declare—Tabby’s Place has a new surge of energy. We are welcoming and mentoring new volunteers every day. My correspondent enjoys introducing me to the new volunteers, and she smiles like the Cheshire Cat when they ask if I am friendly and can be petted. That is often my signal to flip on my back and share my belly! Visitors are also stopping by for tours or visiting the special needs cats that they sponsor. Last week a sweet couple who sponsors several special needs cats drove over 2 hours to get to Tabby’s Place. They had not been here in more than 2 years and were excited to see old feline friends and meet new ones. I spent a great deal of happy time with them. I wanted them to feel very welcome, as is the case with all visitors I greet.

Enjoying stroller time

My correspondent has been filling in for volunteers for afternoon feeding and tours. She is happy about the extra shifts because it means extra time with yours truly. She is amazed at how quick I am (like lightning!) when she walks across the lobby with the food tray. I think that yesterday I broke the land speed record.

Have you heard about the service that allows you to check your DNA? I am not going to bother because the test would show that I am a black-and-white furry southern belle.

I have been enjoying my stroller time and visits to the senior centers with the Aged to Purrfection program. Front and back paws crossed that the Paws to Read program will resume, and maybe I will be fortunate to have a child read to me. My correspondent helps with community events, and Tabby’s Place will be restarting participation next month. I plan to help my correspondent inventory the event supplies.

Just a few days ago we held a Virtual Kitten Shower at Tabby’s Place. We had so many kittens, some cuddly, some furry, some active, and some sleepy. I had a front-row view of the Kitten Shower which was virtual and broadcast on our Facebook page. I looked and looked for a mini-me kitten. No luck this time, maybe next year!

Snow bunny

When I was a little itty bitty furry kitty, I would curl up next to the elder cats after supper and listen to their words of wisdom. I am always reminded of an old proverb: “It is always better to be healthy than wealthy.” Since my last update, the medical team switched up my medication to help my loose stool. They are evaluating whether this is an improvement. Otherwise, they are happy to report that I have been in good health and spirits!

Have a Happy Father’s Day! I am sending you extra whisker kisses this month, enough for friends, felines, and family!
Love,
Rose
