Update for Rose

Hi y’all!

I am thinking about you a lot these days.  The world is still turned upside down, but if we stick together, we will get through this together.  If you, your family, or your friends are some of the amazing front-line workers helping to save lives, this black and white furry li’l southern kitty says thank you from my heart.

What are you doing to pass your time sheltering in place?  I am fortunate to have a bunch of activities in the lobbyCotton, Walter, Olive, and I rotate front door shifts.  Things are pretty quiet throughout the day, but occasionally we have a delivery.  The delivery is not the fun part, the fun part is the box!  Hours and hours of play in the box.

My favorite napping spots are still the cat bed at the front door, the cat bed under the reception desk, and the cat tree next to our special needs suite.  I have fun looking through the suite windows and interacting with my fur friends.  One change this month with a lobby resident, the bright and energetic Gogi who was relocated to the Community Room after his attempt to befriend Anka.  Gogi now is happy as can be with lots of friends to play with all day long.

Lordy, lordy, we have such an amazing staff, no matter how busy they are, they always take time to play with us, to pet us, and let us know that we matter.  I think that they will be as happy as us cats when the volunteers are allowed to return to the team.  When visitors come through the lobby doors, when new volunteer orientations are held, when in-person adoptions resume, when Paws to Read volunteers return, and y’all know how I am honored to go to the senior centers for the Aged to Purrfection program.

My correspondent says this update is a “stream of consciousness,” because I have so many things to share with you.  I cannot begin to tell you how grateful I am for your generosity and kindness with being my sponsor.  The pandemic has taken a toll on the world, and Tabby’s Place being a non-profit is no exception.  I think because Tabby’s Place is a no-kill sanctuary, and 1/3 of the residents including myself are special needs, means we require costly medical care, which is always offered.  As I learned when I was critically ill, “no” is not in the vocabulary at Tabby’s Place when it comes to medical treatment.  Thank you for choosing li’l ole me to sponsor, and for giving me this wonderful life.

The staff stays in touch with my correspondent with messages and pictures.  My correspondent misses me very much and says that looking at my pictures keeps me in her heart.  I hope that I do the same for you.  This month we included some newer photos, older photos, and a few photos taken by volunteers.  I am tickled pink when volunteers take my picture.  I think if it was up to my correspondent, she would post every photo she has of me, which I think number a zillion trillion!

A fun way to clear your head is to go outside and breathe the spring air, and please don’t forget to wear a mask.  I do declare, April showers are bringing May flowers.  I am a lucky kitty, as the staff brings me on stroller rides, which make me so happy!  My correspondent cannot wait to give me the longest stroller ride of my life when she returns.  Y’all know how I love the sun and breeze on my fur, ahhhhh…  The giant Tabby’s Place lawn is as green as a giant basket of freshly shucked peas, and the colorful flowers in Cherny’s Garden, behind the solariums, are blooming, putting a sweet smell in the air.  I love to smell the spring.

Health update…  HAPPY, HAPPY!  My correspondent and a few of her volunteer friends remarked that I look slimmer.  My diapies do fit a bit looser, probably due to less treats and extra food being given to me from my correspondent and volunteer friends, let this be our special secret.  May the food fest resume, soon!

I hope that your Mother’s Day was beautiful.  I am so blessed to have much love and momma figures in my life, my birth mom, granny, foster mom, sponsor, correspondent, staff, and volunteers.

Please keep the faith, the world will turn itself right side up, and I will be waiting for you.  Until then, please show yourself kindness.  Sending you gentle whisker kisses!

Love,
Rose
